Gammon with Whiskey Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 2 tbl Onion (Chopped)
  • 2 tbl Whiskey
  • 2 tbl Flour
  • 1 tbl Demerera Sugar
  • 1 tbl Butter
  • 4 Ham Steaks
  • Seasoning

Method

  1. Brush steaks with melted butter. Snip fat to prevent curling, and grill for 7-8 minutes each side.
  2. To make sauce, gently fry onions in remainder of butter until cooked. Remove from heat and stir in flour gradually. Add stock. Return to heat.
  3. Add sugar and bring to the boil. Simmer gently for about 2 minutes to cook flour.
  4. If sauce seems a little thick, add more water. Add whiskey and season to taste.
  5. Serve gammon on a preheated platter and drizzle with sauce.
