Chocolate Almond Slices Recipe

Mixture Ingredients

  • 6 oz Caster Sugar
  • 6 oz Butter (Softened)
  • 5 oz Milk Chocolate (Chopped)
  • 2 oz Almonds (Ground)
  • 1 oz Flour
  • 4 Egg Yolks
  • 4 Egg Whites

Topping Ingredients

  • 5 oz Apricot Jam
  • 2 tbl Chocolate (Grated)
  • 1 tbl Icing Sugar

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the salt, softened butter, egg yolks and sugar until smooth.
  2. Put the chopped chocolate into a bowl and cover with hot water briefly.
  3. After a minute, drain off the water.
  4. Sift in the flour and ground almonds while stirring.
  5. Whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold in gradually.
  6. Spread the smooth mixture onto a greased baking sheet.
  7. Place in an oven preheated to 350 F and bake for about 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and slice into long thirds.
  9. Set the thirds on top of eachother with a generous spreading of apricot jam between.
  10. Sprinkle the top generously with grated chocolate.
