Traditional Beef Goulash Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Stewing Steak (Diced)
  • 11 oz Tomatoes (Chopped)
  • 1 oz Onion (Chopped)
  • 1/4 pt Stock & Water
  • 1 carton Soured Cream
  • 1 tbl Paprika
  • 1 tbl Oil
  • 2 tsp Tomato Puree
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 Green Pepper (Chopped)
  • Flour
  • Seasoning
  • Nutmeg

Method

  1. Toss the steak in the seasoned flour.
  2. Add a little oil to a frying pan and fry the beef until brown.
  3. Add the onion, tomatoes, paprika, tomato puree, bay leaves, green pepper and a pinch of nutmeg.
  4. Pour in the stock and water, bring to the boil.
  5. After a couple of minutes, remove to a casserole.
  6. Cover and cook in an oven preheated to 325° for 2 hours.
  7. Pour in the soured cream just before serving with rice.
