Ingredients

  • 1 lb Stewing Steak (Diced)
  • 4 oz Mushrooms (Sliced)
  • 4 oz Bacon (Diced)
  • 1/2 oz Seasoned Flour
  • 4 tbl Pearl Barley
  • 2 Beef Cubes (Dissolved In 3/4 pt Hot Water)
  • 1 Onion (Chopped)
  • Worchestershire Sauce
  • Seasoning

Method

  1. Toss the beef in the flour.
  2. Fry bacon in a little oil, add meat and onion then fry until lightly browned.
  3. Add the mushrooms, sauce and barley.
  4. Pour in the beef stock, season and mix well.
  5. Pour into a casserole.
  6. Place in an oven preheated to 350° and cook for 2 1/4 hours.
  7. Serve hot with crusty bread and rice.
